Today, the Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS) and Microsoft have come together to establish a stronger partnership in the areas of generative AI and cloud innovation. They have also unveiled the creation of the Secure GPT for Healthcare Professionals, a platform that utilizes Azure OpenAI Service to empower healthcare workers with the ability to generate valuable insights and automate tasks, ultimately leading to improved efficiency. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officiated by Dr. Janil Puthucheary, the Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information & Health, during the IHIS-Microsoft Generative AI Micro-Conference. This event served as a platform for meaningful discussions on the practical applications of Generative AI within the healthcare industry.

At a recent conference, 13 speakers from IHiS, Microsoft, MOH, Avanade, and Epic discussed various topics such as the future of intelligence in healthcare, important factors for implementing and expanding AI, and the use of data science and AI in chronic illnesses and mental health. The event was attended by over 400 clinicians, technology experts, and students from various educational institutions, both in person and virtually. The MOU between IHiS and Microsoft sets the framework for collaboration, combining their unique strengths, skills, ideas, and resources to enhance the everyday work experience for healthcare professionals and improve patient care through innovations in generative AI and cloud technology.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets out five important areas of collaboration between IHiS and Microsoft. These include: 1. Learning and exploration: opportunities for both organizations to learn from each other and develop technical skills in generative AI and cloud technology for healthcare. An example of this collaboration is the IHiS-Microsoft generative AI Micro-Conference. 2. Collaboration throughout the innovation process: working together from the initial idea stage all the way to final implementation, including qualification, incubation, development, deployment, scaling, and change management. This approach aims to increase the adoption of innovative solutions. 3. Utilizing Azure and security technologies: leveraging Microsoft's Azure platform and security measures to optimize and automate public healthcare IT systems. This includes modernizing infrastructure and ensuring secure computing capabilities to meet various needs. The goal is to enable public healthcare institutions to deliver and expand their services securely, extending beyond hospitals to the wider community. This will be achieved through advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI on a secure cloud platform. 4. Enhancing clinical and operational insights: leveraging Microsoft Azure's Intelligent Data Platform and Azure OpenAI Service to develop intelligent applications that utilize generative AI in multiple healthcare use cases. This will provide valuable insights for healthcare professionals, improving both clinical decision-making and operational efficiency. 5. Harnessing Microsoft 365 on the cloud: promoting greater collaboration and enhancing the daily work experience by integrating AI-powered Microsoft 365 tools. This will improve productivity and enable seamless collaboration among healthcare professionals.
