Accenture: Embedding cybersecurity in business objectives drives growth
According to the most recent study by Accenture, a professional services company, establishments that synchronize their cybersecurity initiatives with business goals have an 18% higher chance of attaining their desired revenue growth.
Accenture refers to these companies as "cyber transformers," the ones who consider cybersecurity to be a key focus in their efforts to transform their business.
In a statement, Jacky Fox, who leads Accenture Security for Europe, expressed that even though companies are making efforts to align their cybersecurity programs with their business goals, there is still a lot of scope for improvement. According to Fox, more than 60% of survey participants have reported being targeted by successful breaches that originated from external sources.
A recent survey conducted by Accenture has revealed that a significant 55% of participants lack the ability to protect their organizations from cyberattacks. Consequently, these organizations are vulnerable to attacks from malicious individuals or groups seeking to exploit their weaknesses in online security. In addition to this alarming statistic, Accenture has identified five prevailing trends that are shaping the global cyberthreat landscape. These trends are having a significant impact on the level of risk faced by organizations worldwide.
Accenture's "State of Cybersecurity Resilience 2023" study gathers information from a survey conducted among 3,000 executives responsible for security and business within major companies spanning Europe, North America, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Automating Cybersecurity Programs
The study discovered that these companies have integrated a cyber risk-focused structure into their enterprise risk management scheme, allowing them to take a more proactive stance towards cybersecurity.
Among cyber transformers, there is a higher tendency to utilize the services of managed services providers in managing cybersecurity operations compared to other organizations. These cyber transformers heavily rely on automation technology for their cybersecurity programs, with a significantly higher percentage compared to others. Furthermore, almost all respondents from organizations that extensively automate their cybersecurity measures stated that automation plays a crucial role in addressing the shortage of cyber talent, which is a major challenge for any company striving to achieve cyber resilience.
According to Palo Dal Cin, the global leader of Accenture Security, business executives must integrate cybersecurity into their digital core transformation endeavors to ensure their businesses can withstand the constantly evolving landscape. This ability is a distinguishing characteristic of cyber transformers, individuals who exhibit the skills needed to achieve favorable results in their business ventures.
