Peruvian citrus exports have decreased by 15% to date

Up until now this season, Peru has shipped out 86,765 tons of citrus fruits, indicating a decrease in volume by 15% compared to the previous season's same time period. Fresh Fruit reports that last week, Peru's citrus exports amounted to 7,126 tons, which is significantly lower at 58% when compared to the corresponding week of the previous year.

The item made its way to 21 different places and the three primary destinations accounted for 69% of all deliveries. The key locations included the United States, comprising 44% of the total; followed by China, making up 13%; and the Netherlands, making up 12%. It is important to highlight that, unlike the previous year, shipments to the United States experienced a significant decrease, dropping from a 70% share in 2022 to 44% this year.

According to Fresh Fruit, Peru sent out a total of 3,144 tons of citrus to the United States. This amount is 3% lower compared to the previous week and 74% lower compared to the same week last year. In terms of shipments to China, Peru exported 916 tons, representing a 10% decrease from the previous week, but a significant increase of 64% compared to last year. Lastly, 861 tons of citrus were exported to the Netherlands, showing a 5% increase from the previous week and a 12% increase from the same week last year.
