A study was done by the Institute of Policy Studies in Islamabad. The study was about the effect of high electricity prices on people in Pakistan. It found that people can't afford the high prices. The high prices are affecting their electricity usage.

A study was conducted in Pakistan, covering 1,000 households and 140 shop owners in the top 10 cities. Results showed that most people experienced a surge in their electricity bills lately. When prices increased, the study finds that people are doing their best to lower their electricity usage. Still, most participants observed that their bills remained unaffected even with a significant reduction of electricity consumption.

The research suggests making stricter rules and regulations for the energy industry, and having reasonably priced electricity charges. Providing different payment choices for people with different financial situations can also help. It's important to deal with problems like load shedding and educate consumers about peak and off-peak hours to decrease their electricity expenses.

The study shows that DISCOs are facing problems due to high prices. They cannot recover their money properly. This makes it hard for them to pay for electricity, maintain networks, and pay debts. Because of this, they can't invest in better infrastructure, provide better services, or make electricity more reliable.

The study wants to help people during the crisis by giving more info and suggesting reforms. People are worried which might disrupt the electricity supply if bills aren't paid.
