Proton X90 is now available in Malaysia. The pricing starts from RM 82,800. There are three variants to choose from. The car is equipped with several features such as Eco Drive Assist, Intelligent Head Unit with Voice Recognition, and more. It has a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. The X90 has four variations: Standard, Executive, Premium and Flagship. These models all use the same mild hybrid 1.5-liter engine. The prices for the X90 are different for each model.

The Proton X90 1.5 TGDI BSG Standard costs RM123,800.

For six times, labour servicing is free. Until the first 4,000 bookings, you get an extra five-year data package of 4GB per month. Plus, you'll get a Proton X-Watch worth RM1,499 and an accessories package. These include footwell lighting, coil mats, and boot tray, worth RM779.

The Proton X90 is a powerful car. It has good performance. The engine is strong. It can go fast. The car's speed is impressive. You will love driving the Proton X90.

The X90 has a 1.5-liter engine made by Proton, Geely, and Volvo. This engine was already used in the X50 and X70. Now, it's combined with a mild hybrid system in the X90. The hybrid system includes a 48V belt starter-generator and a lithium-ion battery under the boot floor.

The mill makes 187hp and 300Nm of torque. This is better than pure petrol X50 and X70. Proton didn't give exact acceleration numbers. But they say the car is 10% quicker than smaller X70 when starting. And 15% quicker when overtaking. CO2 emissions are 13% less than before. Fuel consumption is 6.8 litres per 100km.

The X90 has a mild hybrid system. It has an automatic engine stop/start feature. This helps the engine start smoothly. The engine can also shut down when slowing down to speeds under 15km/h. The X90 has the same transmission as the X50 and X70. It is a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

The Geely Haoyue competes against the Mazda CX-8.

The X90 is actually the Geely Haoyue, which is also known as the Okavango. It competes with cars like Mazda CX-8 and Nissan X-Trail. It is 4,835mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,780mm tall with a 2,815mm wheelbase. It is as big as the CX-8 but smaller than other cars.

The X90 looks just like the Haoyue. It has the same angular design with squarish LED reflector headlights, large grille, blocky wheel arches, upswept window line, slim LED taillights and bumper-mounted rear number plate. The only changes are the Proton front crest and rear script. The front grille is inspired by songkets and looks very similar to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

The car has had big changes to its suspension. It now has independent multilink rear suspension. This is better than the old torsion beam setup. It makes the car's ride more sophisticated. It took a lot of work to make this change. They spent 96,000 man hours and drove 1.2 million kilometres to test it.

All the models have LED front fog lights, silver roof rails and 18-inch machined-finish alloy wheels. The Premium and Flagship models have bigger 19-inch wheels.

The interior is familiar but has some changes.

Inside the car, there are many similarities to Geely's design. The air vents have the "infinity loop" design. The door handles and centre console are noticeable. The car also has a three-spoke steering wheel. There is a short gearlever and a drive mode selector that rotates.

The Flagship variant of the car has a 12.3-inch touchscreen. This is the biggest ever used in a Proton car. The touchscreen runs on a fast E02 processor, made by Geely. There is also 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Atlas UI made by ACO Tech is used on all Proton cars.

The X90 still has the “Hi Proton” voice control system. It manages air conditioning and windows. There's also an eSIM for internet data. The vehicle has a bigger 10.25-inch instrument display for showing a full-screen navigation map. This display is larger than the ones in the X50 and X70.

The X90 has many different interior details than the Haoyue. The Flagship model has six seats with special chairs in the second row with armrests. These chairs are not available on the Geely version anywhere in the world. The headrests in the first and second row are also different. They are called "pillow" headrests and are only in the Malaysian car.

The Standard, Executive, and Premium models have a seven-seater interior. The second row is split 60:40 instead of 40:20:40 like the Geely. This means folding the seats to get more cargo space is easier with fewer steps.

Next, the rear air conditioning vents have moved from their old spots to the ceiling for both rows. This change makes room for newly redesigned air conditioning controls for the second row. These controls lose the ability to adjust temperature but gain buttons for the rear seat ventilation, which is only available in the six-seater flagship model. Furthermore, the second-row occupants now have access to a new USB-C port.

The Standard model has keyless entry, auto lock and remote engine start, air-con, fabric seats, parking brake, hill descent control, and six speakers. The Executive model has auto wipers, power front seats with ventilation, faux leather seats, and a powered tailgate.

Upgrade to the Premium model for fancy features like Nappa leather trim, auto-dimming mirror, pretty ambient lighting, secure window tint, and wireless charging with Qi. You also get a no-hands tailgate, but instead of kicking the bumper, it opens when you hold the key close for three seconds. For even more luxury, the Flagship has shoulder-controlled passenger seat adjustments and a panoramic glass sunroof.

Top models have full range of auto driver aids.

The X90 has three new active safety systems: rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, and traffic sign recognition. It also has autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane centring assist. Emergency lane keep assist, park assist, and automatic high beam are also included. The X90 offers Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.

Here's a simplified version: The X90 car has a safety problem. Only the Premium and Flagship models have advanced safety features like AEB. The cheaper Standard and Executive models don't have AEB at all. This is a big issue because AEB is important for safety. However, the car does have some standard safety features like airbags and stability control, and it has a good safety rating from Asean NCAP.

The car has parking sensors and a camera for reversing. The Executive model has a 360-degree camera with 3D view and monitors tyre pressure.
