Destination Toronto Appoints New Board Chair Rekha Khote

Destination Toronto has appointed Rekha Khote, CEO of MK2 Hospitality, as the Chair of its Board of Directors. Rekha was selected by the Board of Directors, whose lineup was ratified on June 8, 2023, during the 98th Annual General Meeting held at The Royal Conservatory of Music's Koerner Hall.

Rekha Khote, the head of the Destination Toronto's Board of Directors, showcased her leadership skills and expertise in the tourism industry at the recent event.

Scott Beck, the President and CEO of Destination Toronto, praised Rekha for her deep interest in the tourism and hospitality sector in Toronto as well as her business expertise. He expressed his appreciation to Rekha and the rest of the Board of Directors for their voluntary service and commitment in driving the growth of Toronto's visitor economy.

Having a successful background in tourism, Rekha has held high-ranking positions at Starwood Hotels and Delta Hotels & Resorts. She also has experience on various boards and committees, such as the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Greater Toronto Hotel Association, George Brown College, and Destination Toronto, where she chaired the marketing committee. As a co-founder of MK2 Hospitality, a business consultancy, Rekha is dedicated to supporting and guiding senior-level women in the tourism and hospitality industry to reach their professional aspirations.

Besides the official proceedings of the 98th Annual General Meeting, the staff gave a presentation on the 2022 Annual Report. Attendees were also treated to a captivating live show called Cultures Remix. This performance showcased the talents of Randell Adjei, Ontario's very first Poet Laureate and Artivist, as well as the extraordinary skills of Kimberly Anne Beckles, the founder of Sapphenix Movement and a talented dancer.
