In the last couple of years, the pandemic has caused disruptions to school schedules and posed challenges to recycling initiatives. To tackle this problem, Canon Hong Kong has combined the quantities of ink cartridges recycled during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years and has identified the top ten schools. By December 2022, a total of 252,000 ink cartridges had been collected, and the materials from these cartridges were being recycled into raw materials for other products. During the ceremony, Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa, President & CEO of Canon Hong Kong, expressed his appreciation to the winning schools for their commitment to promoting environmental recycling efforts. He commended them for setting a positive example and actively encouraging student participation. These schools were acknowledged for collecting the highest number of ink cartridges and achieving the highest recycling rate per person. In his speech, Mr. Ozawa emphasized the importance of environmental protection for the younger generation and encouraged all students to make recycling a part of their daily routine, thereby giving new life to all used materials.

Following the ceremony, the students and teachers had the opportunity to participate in various eco-friendly activities. One of these activities was the Banner Upcycling Workshop, organized by Canon Hong Kong's partner, "The Green Earth". During this workshop, old banners were transformed into useful crafts like Octopus cardholders or name card holders. Volunteers from The Green Earth also spoke about the landfill issues in Hong Kong, aiming to raise awareness among the students about the importance of recycling materials. Another workshop, called the Canon Creative Park Workshop, allowed students to create 3D paper crafts. Baguio iRecycle Limited also had a booth where students could play an educational game to learn about the different types of plastic and the proper methods of recycling them. Additionally, there was a photo shoot and printing service available, featuring the program ambassador, McDull Mascot, which was the highlight of the event.
