U Mobile offers free 5G trial to more prepaid and postpaid users - SoyaCincau
U Mobile has announced that it is currently carrying out a trial of 5G services for a wider range of postpaid and prepaid customers on its network. This trial will be available from June 30th to July 7th, 2023, and eligible users will have the opportunity to experience 5G connectivity without incurring any additional charges.
As stated in the frequently asked questions (FAQ), users who are deemed active and have subscribed to specific plans will have unrestricted access to the 5G network, enabling them to enjoy its maximum speed.
U Mobile Pay-As-You-Go (Enrolled prior to June 21st)
Following the duration of the trial phase, users of Prepaid GX will still have the ability to connect to the 5G network. However, their speeds will be limited (ranging from 3-12Mbps) depending on the specific subscription plan they have chosen. On the other hand, certain postpaid subscribers who are enrolled in Giler Unlimited GX50 and Postpaid P78 will be able to maintain their access to 5G, albeit with a speed restriction of 5-6Mbps in accordance with their respective subscriptions.
Starting from 7th July, prepaid users have the opportunity to experience the maximum speeds of 5G by purchasing Speed Boosters through the MyUMobile app. These Boosters are available for just RM1 and will provide a speedy connection for 2 hours, or users can opt for the 24-hour option at a price of RM5. On the other hand, postpaid users can also enhance their 5G experience by purchasing a 5G Data Booster for RM10 or a hotspot booster for RM5 through the MyUMobile app.
In order to use 5G, individuals will have to be within the 5G range provided by Digital Nasional Berhad and have a device that is compatible with 5G. Feel free to verify the areas covered by checking here.
Currently, the existing U Mobile prepaid plans include a 5G feature that can boost your internet speed for a day or give you unlimited 5G access over the weekend. As for postpaid customers, they can enjoy 5G connectivity without any limitations on U Mobile's Unbeatable postpaid plans. These plans range from RM38 per month with 60GB of data to RM98 per month with a whopping 1000GB of data.
If you were not aware, U Mobile has recently released U Home 5G, a wireless 5G broadband service that provides unlimited 5G without any contractual obligations or speed limitations. Please note that this package does not include a wireless router and has a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) that allows for a monthly data usage of up to 1000GB, which is quite generous. If you require additional data, you have the option to add-on another 1000GB for an additional RM30 per month.
