Elon Musk hired a new CEO for Twitter. The CEO will start in six weeks.

The rich guy owns Twitter since October. He is the CEO. He said he won't be there for long. Musk tweeted that he hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She starts in six weeks.

He said he will become executive chair and chief technology officer. He'll be in charge of product, software, and systems operations. He didn't say who'll be the next chief executive.

Someone who knows about it said to the Financial Times that Linda Yaccarino and Musk were talking about something. The Wall Street Journal already talked about this job. Yaccarino didn't answer an email asking for a comment.

Musk and Yaccarino did a speech at a conference in Miami. The speech was called "Twitter 2.0: From Conversations to Partnerships". People who saw it say Yaccarino was really good at entertaining the audience. It looked like they got along well on stage.

Tesla's shareholders are urging Musk to focus on their company and not Twitter. Tesla's shares have fallen by 30% in the past year. On the other hand, Twitter's chief's announcement resulted in a 2% jump in Tesla's stock.

People who are familiar with the situation say that Twitter investors and bankers want Musk to pick new management quickly.

Last December, Musk said he'd quit as Twitter's CEO when he finds a replacement. This followed a poll where 17.5 million people participated and 57.5% thought he should go.

He ran Twitter for six months. He changed a lot - he cut the number of staff a lot and he relaxed the rules on what people could post. This made some famous people and businesses stop using Twitter, which meant it made less money.

Musk said Twitter's finances were getting better in March. He had cut costs and the company might make money next quarter. Musk also mentioned new things on Twitter, like messaging that's protected.
